Discussions on Cooperation with the Sugihara Museum: Education, Culture and Dialogue

On July 6, a meeting took place between the Foundation’s President, Radosław Tyszkiewicz, and representatives of the Sugihara House Museum in Kaunas – Mr. Saulius Garbaravičius and Ms. Jurgita Garbaravičienė. The discussions concerned potential cooperation and the possibility of implementing joint educational and cultural projects aimed at promoting the values of humanism, civic courage and intercultural dialogue. The Sugihara House is a private museum established in 1999 in Kaunas, located in the building where Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara worked during World War II. It was from here that he issued the so-called “Visas for Life,” saving thousands of Jews, including many from Poland, fleeing the Holocaust. Although the museum faced serious financial difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic, today it successfully continues its mission of spreading Sugihara’s message – courage, empathy and goodwill toward others.
