About the Foundation

The Poland-Japan Foundation (FPJ)

The Poland-Japan Foundation (FPJ) was established in 2023, at a time of key changes related to questioning the current world order and democratic system, as well as growing concerns about migration, recession, and the impact of artificial intelligence on our lives. The Foundation was created in response to the growing interest of entrepreneurs and public institutions from Poland and Japan in multidimensional activities covering business, science, culture, education, and inter-institutional exchange.

History of the Foundation

The rapid development of economic relations between both countries has led to a significant increase in cooperation at various levels in recent years, extending far beyond purely commercial activities. Poland currently plays the role of one of the leading member states of the European Union and a key partner for Japan in Central Europe. Japan, with its unquestionable leadership position in Asia and enormous economic potential, creates opportunities for unlimited development of multidimensional economic and cultural cooperation.

The idea for establishing the Foundation arose from meetings of experts sharing similar educational and professional experiences in many years of working abroad in an international environment in business and diplomacy, with a particular track record in cooperation with Japan. This initiative transformed into the creation of a highly professional Foundation with a precisely defined mission for its activities.

In a time of growing political uncertainty, when the existing world order is being questioned, the strategic partnership between Poland and Japan, with the special role of the Poland-Japan Foundation, is becoming increasingly important.

The Poland-Japan Foundation operates under Polish law and is registered in Warsaw. Our representatives in Poland and Japan, as well as in Belgium, work to develop Polish-Japanese relations in all areas of defined activity. The Poland-Japan Foundation is a private, philanthropic, non-profit organization, legally and financially independent.

Mission

Our Mission

The Poland-Japan Foundation (FPJ) works to foster cooperation and develop mutual relations between entities and residents of both countries. Our activity in promoting international ties between Poland, Europe (especially the European Union), and Japan aims to support cooperation both between these entities and, more broadly, between all of Europe and Asia. Our goal is to strengthen common bonds through the implementation of diverse projects in knowledge, education, information exchange, and solving specific problems. The Foundation strives to contribute to the political and economic development of Poland and Japan in many fields, including economic, educational, scientific, cultural, and social.

By ensuring freedom of thought, an innovative approach, and visionary ideas, and by applying unconventional solutions and unique working methods, we aim to cooperate with many partners both domestically and abroad to ensure long-term benefits for our societies. Cooperation with the younger generation of citizens and encouraging them to work towards international cooperation is particularly important to us. We are a meeting place for all who wish to engage in shaping positive Polish-Japanese relations.

Message

As the President of the Foundation, I have the honor of leading an organization that plays a crucial role in developing partnership cooperation between entities from Poland and Japan and building mutual relations between the citizens of both countries. We are a modern, creative, and fully innovative foundation that responds to all the challenges of the 21st century.

Operating on many levels, we cooperate with partners who wish to deepen Polish-Japanese relations. The Foundation’s goal is to provide a platform around which experts and individuals active in various fields, actively engaged in international cooperation, can gather. From a global perspective, we strive to identify any threats to the development of mutual relations between our countries and counteract them appropriately, in accordance with current needs.

Our mission is to increase awareness of the commonality of interests between our Nations, by recognizing the importance of Japan as a strategic partner for Poland’s economic development and by spreading Polish presence and knowledge about it in Japan. Through the implementation of joint projects, we develop cooperation between institutions, economic entities, and private individuals from both countries. We undertake specific tasks in many sectors of activity, including politics, economy, culture, art, media, education, business, science, technology, and sports.

We place particular emphasis on promoting friendly relations between both Nations. Cooperation with our Foundation guarantees the building of positive relations between entities from both countries and ensures dynamic and mutually beneficial cooperation, with particular benefit for future generations.

Foundation Members

The Poland-Japan Foundation (FPJ) consists of a Management Board, a Council, a Board of Advisors, as well as collaborators of the organization. Recognized Polish and Japanese members and specialists establish the basic directions of activity, contributing their expert input and ensuring the efficient functioning of the Foundation.
