Meeting in Tsuruga: New Perspectives for Polish-Japanese Historical Cooperation

The President of the Poland-Japan Foundation, Radosław Tyszkiewicz, paid a visit to Tsuruga, where he met with the new Director of the Port of Humanity Tsuruga Museum, Takuya Okada. During the meeting, they discussed prospects for further cooperation and the possibility of implementing joint initiatives, particularly in the field of historical education and cultural projects. Tsuruga holds a unique place in the history of the Polish Siberian Children—it was through its port in 1920–1922 that Polish children evacuated from Siberia arrived in Japan, finding care and support here. Cooperation with Poland is also intensifying at the local level, as evidenced by the summer visit of the Mayor of Tsuruga, Koji Yonezawa, to Poland.
